The film titled “1 Kakak 7 Ponakan” marks the comeback of Yandy Laurens and has been screening since January 23, 2025. This movie is an adaptation of the Indonesian soap opera of the same name from 1996. It tells the story of Moko, who finds himself stepping into the role of a parent after the sudden passing of his brother-in-law.
This family drama, highly anticipated since 2024, has finally hit theaters. The narrative follows Moko, a young architect whose life takes a dramatic turn as he takes on the responsibility of caring for his nieces and nephews. One audience member, Isal (22), shared his thoughts after watching the film in a Bandung cinema on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
“I give it a 10/10; it made me cry a lot. I can relate as the eldest child, especially when Moko has to work hard away from his nieces and nephews, only to come home to chaos,” Isal expressed.
This adaptation has successfully brought a fresh perspective to the story, featuring a talented cast that includes Chicco Kurniawan, Amanda Rawles, Ringgo Agus, Niken Anjani, Kiki Narendra, Freya JKT48, Fatih Unru, Nadif, and Kawai.
